SUMMARY:Haven Plaza - Washington Heights\, NYC
DESCRIPTION:Join us for “Immigrant Women: resisting and re-existing”\, our annual outdoor Translocal Feminist Film Series that\, on its fifth run\, has become a summer and uptown staple. As the criminalization of immigrant communities intensifies and our already precarious access to basic social services is curtailed\, we have curated a list of films that highlight the intersecting character of our struggles–whether those over labor rights\, access to social services\, and against surveillance\, detention and deportation. \nOur Film Series also celebrates the resilience\, friendship\, solidarity and hybridness of our communities and\, in particular\, of women and gender expansive people. Join us throughout August for three bilingual (English/Spanish) screenings: \n🌐 Saturday 8/2\, Borderland | The Line Within; Doors open: 6:30pm\, Screening begins at 7:30pm; Pamela Yates will join for a brief post-screening conversation. SUMMARY:National Immigrant Solidarity Rally & Screening
DESCRIPTION:(version en español abajo) As we confront the Trump regime\, we share your anger and frustration about the inhumane treatment of immigrant communities and the brazen assault on our fundamental rights. We also have heard from audiences all over our country about the importance of our documentary BORDERLAND | The Line Within to change the story and inspire action\, and wanting to know how others can see it. Requests for the film have skyrocketed over the last month. At screenings since Trump took power\, we frequently hear the question\, “What can I do to fight back?” \nIn this spirit\, we are organizing a virtual National Immigrant Solidarity Rally on Monday\, March 31\, 2025.  We will gather with protagonists from the film–Gabriela Castañeda\, Kaxh Mura’l\, Alex Gil\, Luis Osuna\, and Carlos Spector–filmmakers\, immigration rights leaders\, digital humanists\, students\, and concerned community members from across the country to share experiences\, strategies\, and resources to inspire solidarity and actions to take.  \nThe Rally will be accessible to both English and Spanish speakers. We will also make BORDERLAND | The Line Within\, FREE to watch online the weekend before the Rally\, in a bilingual version that Spanish and English speakers can watch together. We encourage you to organize watch parties at home with friends or in your places of community gathering–social movements start at the grassroots\, with people joining in solidarity and shared purpose. It’s always more powerful when we come together!  \nHere are the details:  \n\nRegister for the virtual National Immigrant Solidary Rally\, March 31 at 7-9PM ET / 6-8PM CT / 5-7pm MT / 4-6 PM PT / 2-4 PM HT\nWatch BORDERLAND | The Line Within for FREE between March 29\, 9AM ET- March 31\, 7PM ET \n\n*** \nMientras nos enfrentamos al régimen de Trump\, compartimos tu enojo y frustración por el trato inhumano a las comunidades de migrantes y el ataque descarado a nuestros derechos fundamentales.
