SUMMARY:Greater Danbury Area Unites for Immigrants - Danbury CT
DESCRIPTION:As immigrant communities across Connecticut face mounting fear and state-sanctioned violence\, Greater Danbury Area Unites for Immigrants will host Existing at the Crossroads of Fascism\, a film screening and panel discussion on Thursday\, November 6\, from 5:30–9:00 PM at Western Connecticut State University’s Ives Concert Hall. \nThe event will feature a screening of the acclaimed documentary “Borderland: The Line Within\,” which exposes the U.S. “border industrial complex”—a multi-billion-dollar system that profits from the detention and deportation of migrants. Following the film\, a panel of journalists\, advocates\, and organizers will discuss the growing ties between policing\, the courts\, and deportation systems\, and explore how communities can organize to fight back against authoritarianism and anti-immigrant violence.\nThe evening will open with a community reception and Ofrenda exhibit — a traditional Mexican Day of the Dead altar — honoring the lives of individuals who have died while in ICE custody. The Ofrenda will serve as both a sacred memorial and a call to action for justice and compassion. \n✊Existing At The Crossroads Of Fascism “Borderland: The Line Within”✊
